The Dutch are tall louts

The Dutch are among the tallest people in the world. On average, a Dutch man is 183.8 cm and a Dutch woman 170.7 cm. If you compare that to neighboring Germany—men 181.3 cm and women 168 cm—there is a significant height difference. Especially when you look at a country like Japan—men 172.1 cm and women 159.8 cm—the Dutch really stand out.
We are a country of tall louts.

These figures are all from average adults between the ages of 21 and 25. As you get older, you shrink. We know that.
But premature contraction is something you should want to prevent.

Becoming smaller is a natural process

The fact that the Dutch are so much taller than other inhabitants of the world is mainly due to increased prosperity and dietary patterns.

Milk and dairy products contain calcium, which, with sufficient intake, gives a boost to bone growth. Bone, such as vertebrae, loses mass and structure as we age. As a result, you become shorter as you get older. This can amount to as much as 10 centimeters, and sometimes much more if you also have osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a change in your bone structure due to calcium loss, causing your bones to become smaller and more porous.

How do you slow down the shrinking?

Slowing down the shrinking process is better for the condition of your bones. You do this by eating calcium-rich foods such as cheese and yogurt and by drinking enough fluids. It is also important to keep moving and exercising. An important part is maintaining your spine, because vertebrae are also made of bone and can cause complications if bone tissue decreases. Think of back and shoulder complaints that can severely limit your freedom of movement.

Exercises for a strong back

Exercises for a strong back are also known as core training. Core stands for torso. All the major and important muscles are located around your torso, the part of your body where your head, arms, and legs are attached. If you train these regularly and correctly, you strengthen your torso and firm up your vertebrae. The benefits are truly enormous. You prevent back, shoulder, and neck complaints, and naturally, you also slow down the aging process. Through core training, you work towards a healthy body that also looks toned.

Train your core with deadlifts and chest press

Two core training exercises that we often do with our clients are the deadlift (see photo) and the chest press. With proper form, you build a strong core quickly. However, the deadlift does require proper guidance to perform it correctly. We also always warn against attempting this exercise independently without the right instruction.,
Do you also want a strong back and to prevent premature shrinkage? The Personal Trainers at First Class Fitness Delft are ready for you. There are plenty of opportunities to train outdoors at our new premises on Schieweg in Delft.
